Study the Issues, Be a Voice, Make a Difference.The White House has officially announced President Trump's intent to appoint Dr. Sandra Morgan, the Director of the Global Center for Women and Justice (GCWJ), to a two-year term as a Member of the Public-Private Partnership Advisory Council to End Human Trafficking. The Public Private Partnership Advisory Council was established by Senate Bill 1312, a bipartisan legislative mandate of the reauthorization of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA). The Advisory Council ensures US government policies and programs use best practices in their victim prevention, rehabilitation and aftercare efforts.Dr. Morgan advances the status of women and at-risk victim populations through advocacy, education, and policy. Her research at the University of Duhok in Iraq built capacity for women and resulted in training for government, law enforcement, and university leaders in combating human trafficking. Dr. Morgan created and is the voice behind the Ending Human Trafficking podcast, which was started in 2011 and has more than 200 interviews with local, national and international counter-trafficking professionals, survivors, educators, prosecutors, judges, and international advocates. Currently, Dr. Morgan provides action research for three federal Human Trafficking Task Forces.Dr. Morgan demonstrates more than two decades supporting global partnerships and implementing high impact education and training interventions globally, including projects in Iraq, Zambia, Thailand, Australia, Kenya, Rwanda, Greece, Ecuador, Argentina, Russia, Germany, Romania, Spain, and Italy. GCWJ partners with global, regional and local partners including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, regional government and faith-based organizations to enhance anti-trafficking, victim-centered capacities by training community leaders, healthcare professionals, law enforcement and justice officials.Dr. Morgan is honored to join the Advisory Council, will advocate for victims and encourage a victim-centered, trauma-informed approach to national anti-trafficking efforts.
